One of those spur-of-the-moment reviews*, simply because it is a refreshing reminder of how good Bangalore’s food scene has been to me!
Here we are, roaming around Jayanagar (after the wife’s quintessential saree shopping sprees) and bemoaning the lack of Amy interesting restaurants on the way back when our eyes simultaneously fell on the sign…
Cafe Toscano prides itself on Italian food with an English cafe ambience and I do think they’re spot on. Granted, this is my first (of many, many visits) and both of us enjoyed the experience; a medium minute steak (tenderloin) for myself and a penne arrabiata chicken for the missus.
Dessert was wonderfully sumptuous, a Tiramisu with coffee ice cream, with the entire disk seemingly generously laced with Kahlua (and thereby raising the rating from the 4.0 I originally planned to 4.5)
Misses? Not much – the complimentary bread basket was not the warm bread basket I’m used to with Chianti, and the beef is still not the same quality as the one I’m used to at Chianti, but then, that pepper sauce was the best I’ve ever had with steak, EVER, and that Tiramisu was again, peerless, even if the mascarpone was ever so slightly too much and the cake not as moist as it could be!
All in all, great first taster! Can’t wait to come here again!
